Karen CKaren C ★☆☆☆☆ I regret hiring Cobex to install a new roof on my house. They took five months to begin work and took twice as long as expected to complete. We asked the sales crew for custom skylights and to repair dry rot on the architectural details of the house. None of these details were passed to the construction crew and during construction, we were told the custom skylights would not be covered under warranty. It also became apparent that they did not have the expertise to handle the carpentry work for the dry rot repair. I had to manage the project daily to direct the repair work and point out corrections. In the end, we didn't get the skylights we agreed to and the dry rot repair and detail work was subpar. They missed areas of dry rot and used inferior wood. Also, Cobex did not tarp the roof before a predicted rain storm and damage was done to the interior ceiling, walls, furniture and carpet. Five other homes they were working on were also affected. I hired another contractor and did work myself to make repairs they missed since I did not trust Cobex's workmanship. I told him I don’t know if he wanted to continue with the process as the other quotes I got were significantly less and he proceeded to pretty much say in other words you get what you pay for. I felt a sense of judgement . The other companies are reputable companies with great reviews . He then said he didn’t want to waste either of our time and left. All that could’ve been done through an email if that’s all that was going to be done and could’ve saved all of our time . A $6000-$8000 price difference but couldn’t even put shoe covers on before stepping in to my families home. Could just be me but a 6-8 thousand dollar difference from multiple other quotes is a bit steep . I really didn’t like that guys attitude making it seem like his company is superior then everyone else’s trying to justify the drastic price difference . To me it sounds like trying to take advantage . Even if they offered to price match I solely wouldn’t go through them just based off this experience . If you read all of this please take the time to get multiple quotes before choosing a company . Do your research . Noel Ortega

Production Liason

Noel Ortega is the Production Assistant who works at Cobex. For the past 5 years, he has worked in various departments such as sales, canvassing, customer service, and now production.

He is responsible for pulling all permits, scheduling inspections, registering warranties, and more with being the project manager’s right hand.  He is the point of contact for all of our clients once their contract is signed.

Noel is passionate about production because it’s the reason why people go with Cobex. Fulfilling the original promise and making the vision of the contract come to reality is very satisfying.

Noel has been recognized in the field for accommodating to various changes and growing. In his spare time, Noel is a Youth Pastor and spends time serving the youth of his church. He currently lives in Sacramento.

Vitaliy Markevich is a project consultant who works at Cobex. For the past year, has worked on the sales team.

Vitaliy is passionate about exterior construction because he’s been involved with construction ever since he got out of high school and became a contractor.

Vitaliy has been recognized in the construction field for hiring and training installers and running his own crews. Installed several thousand windows and hundreds of siding projects.

My favorite thing about this job is that it’s the lowest-stress environment that I’ve ever worked in and such great management as in Cobex is extremely rare and hard to find.

Mickey Baggett is a Project Consultant who works at Cobex. In the past year, he has helped homeowners get the roof they deserve on their homes. He has also helped homeowners through the insurance claims process to receive proper coverage for their roofs.

Mickey is passionate about Project Consulting because he loves to add genuine value to homeowners and meet the needs of people around him.

In his spare time, Mickey enjoys eating great food with his fiancé — soon-to-be wife — and connecting with his community. He currently lives in Citrus Heights.

My favorite thing about my job is being able to meet many different people and my actual needs for them.

Chris Rickon is a Project Consultant with 7 years of construction experience who works at Cobex. For the past year, I have worked on walking customers through the construction process from quote to completion.

Construction has been a passion for Chris because it is an industry that directly helps people in some of the hardest situations, and with so much misinformation out there it can be difficult to find people to trust.

Chris has been in the industry for 7 years and has been awarded multiple certifications through all facets of the industry.

I am passionate about my project management position because it gets me to connect with customers and make their written expectations a reality. Dmitriy Matushevskiy

Dmitriy "Dima" Matushevskiy

Co-Founder

Those who know Dmitriy Matushevskiy well today will attest that he is not a hard person to read. His values and priorities were carved into his character since childhood. Born in the Ukraine during a period of extreme religious persecution, his grandparents and eventually his parents were lured to the United States by the desire for freedom and opportunity. Dmitriy is inspired by the memories of what his family endured. “I remember the sacrifices and difficult times my family endured in Ukraine and continue to be motivated by their courage and resourcefulness.”

After arriving in America in 2001 as a teenager, Dmitriy was drawn to the construction trade but lacked the knowledge and expertise he needed. He was hired by two contractors to help install windows and other small projects. In both cases, these people refused to pay him. But he didn’t let that disappointment sour him on construction. He knew then that it was how he wanted to spend his life. He found another contractor he trusted and offered to work for free if he would teach Dmitriy the trades. That arrangement lasted for two years and inspired a 17-year-old Dmitriy to make an offer on his first piece property in Sacramento for $25,000. He wasn’t discouraged by the fact that he didn’t have any money and spoke only broken English.

What he lacked in money and articulation, he made up for with the kind of determination and resourcefulness he had learned from his family. Dmitriy recalls, “I was young and naïve with little appreciation for the very long odds I faced. I found the property owner in Florida and convinced him to do a below-market deal. He agreed and then I was faced with the reality that I had no money to buy this property. I made up my mind that I was going to find the money no matter what and somehow, I did.” He built a duplex and sold it for a nice profit. Dmitriy was thankful for those who helped him get his start and was humbled by the good fortune that he fully attributes to divine intervention. He was so grateful, that he donated his six-figure profit to his church. “Too many unlikely events went my way that allowed that experience to bless my life. I felt compelled by my faith and the years of blessings my family enjoyed through our church community. It was the right decision.”

The crash of the real estate market in 2008 took its toll on the construction industry and Dmitriy was no exception. He was so devastated by the setback, he struggled for many months to find his next career move. He tried a few uninspiring things outside of construction and in 2010 divine intervention struck again. Dmitriy found an opportunity to do property preservation and realized this was his chance to get back into the construction game. He has been talking to his friend Sergey at church and found out that he also had an industry background. They agreed to become partners in a property preservation company which became successful and broadened the construction expertise of both men.

As the economy improved, Dmitriy dove head-first into flipping houses in Florida and new construction in California. In 2017, Dmitriy and Sergey began discussing a shared vision of creating a different kind of company that would help homeowners make improvements without the stress, dishonesty, and broken promises experienced by many. Along with another Church friend Vazgen (Vaz), Cobex was born. Dmitriy remembers, “From the first conversation, it was clear that the three of us shared the same values, vision, and goals for our new company. We committed to each other then and there to stay true to those principles.”

Dmitriy recognizes that his determination, high standards, and attention to detail lead him to be single-minded about work, even during traditional off hours. But he vows to work on that. “My wife Angelica and I have two young sons and a baby daughter. They are a loving reminder that there is more to life than work. I don’t have a lot of hobbies or outside interests but spending time with them makes me realize what is really important.”

Dmitriy reflects on his accomplishments. “My partners and I feel fortunate that we have a company focused on family. It is very rewarding to create jobs and career advancement opportunities for our family members and devoted team members. Cobex is a place where people can enjoy their work, feel
appreciated, and embrace professional development. When a customer gives us a positive review, we all share in the moment. As owners, we are mindful of how blessed we are and devoted to sharing those blessings with others.”

Vazgen Dallakyan

Vazgen Dallakyan

Co-founder and CEO

Vazgen Dallakyan is the co-founder and CEO at Cobex. For the past 6 years, Vazgen has worked on business development for Cobex from Sales and Marketing to technology and operations.

Vazgen is recognized for his innovation in marketing and technology implementation for Cobex.

He is an Alumni graduate of Sacramento State College where he earned his Bachelors in Kinesiology and exercise science. In his spare time, Vazgen enjoys spending time with his 3 young children and wife, traveling, and creating new experiences together.


What is your favorite thing about your job?

What I enjoy most about my work is the meaningful work we do and the value of the relationships with my employees and our customers.

How do you integrate the concept of “family” into your job at Cobex?

The concept of family is to love and respect each other. To treat each other with consideration and to put others ahead of ourselves. A strong family consists of trust and respect for each other. At Cobex we treat each other as family and we treat our customers as our extended family.
